What is the difference between Sculptra and typical HA Fillers?
You may be familiar with Hyaluronic Acid (HA) fillers like Restylane or Juvederm. Hyaluronic acid can be naturally found in our skin and body, and injectable HA is commonly used to reduce fine lines, and to restore or enhance facial volume. The effects are usually quite immediate.
In contrast, Sculptra is a Poly-L-lactic Acid (PLLA) filler. PLLA is generally referred to as a bio-stimulating filler, meaning that it stimulates our own skin to produce collagen. Once injected, the PLLA is broken down into water and carbon dioxide over time but can not be dissolved or reversed by Hyaluronidase. Unlike the rather immediate effects from injectable HA, the effects of injectable PLLA appear gradually over a few months and, as a result, produces gradual and natural effects.
How many treatments are required for Sculptra?
Our Sculptra appointments usually start with a discussion of your individual needs and goals at our office. We recommend a series of treatments over time for subtle yet noticeable results – Sculptra is designed to restore collagen gradually and can last up to two years.
How soon will I see results from Sculptra?
